Upper Mustang Trekking - Explore Tibet from Nepal

Upper Mustang is a bare land in Himalaya. In fact, Upper and Lower Mustang is called the desert of the Himalaya. Upper Mustang Trek begins with flight from Pokhara but the actual trek starts from Jomsom. Upper Mustang is more close to Tibet based on cultures, traditions and the natural structure. In fact, the natural geographical structure of Upper Mustang is completely different from whole Nepal. It was not opened and allowed to visit foreigners till 1990s. This Trek follows landscape views of several mountains – Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna (8091m), Machhapuchhre, Himachuli etc.

We begins Upper Mustang Trek after sightseeing tour of UNESCO Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. After that, we drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. About 5-6 hours, we reach in Pokhara Valley. And next day, we take flight by Pokhara to Jomsom and the actual trek begins from here Jomsom.

 

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1310m)

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (910m)

Day 04: Pokhara to Jomsom Flight and trek to Kagbeni (2858m)

Day 05: Kagbeni to Chele (3050m) Trek

Day 06: Trek to Syanbochen (3475m) from Chele

Day 07: Trek to Ghayami (3520m)

Day 08: Trek to Charang (3500m)

Day 09: Trek to Lo Manthang (3700m)

Day 10: Acclimatization in Lo Manthang

Day 11: Trek to Drakmar from Lo Manthang (3810m)

Day 12: Trek to Ghiling (3806m)

Day 13: Trek to Chuksang (3050m)

Day 14: Trek back to Jomsom

Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara city and sightseeing

Day 16: Drive back to Kathmandu valley from Pokhara

Day 17: Final Departure

Trekking to Himalayas is so strenuous. So you have to keep some equipment to be safe during the journey. That is why we advise you to have needed things. Trekking gears can be rented from Nepal too, so you should not take it from your home.
