Located in between Annapurna region in west and Ganesh Himal in east of the Mansiri Himal, Manaslu Region is a hidden treasure of Nepal which is one of the most remote areas of the world although it is not far from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. In Manaslu Region, the eight highest Mt. Manaslu (8161 m) is situated, which was first climbed by two Japanese people named Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu. Manaslu Region was only opened for trekking since 1991. It is still a controlled region of Nepal. So foreigners need special permit to visit Manaslu Region.
