Overview

Everest Trekking is not only popular for its high mountain peaks and terrain lands but it is also rich in culture and tradition. The celebrating festivals by Sherpa people of this region is very famous. Among them, Everest Mani Rimbu Festival trek is one of the most important an interesting Buddhist festivals observed every year.

Mani Rimdu Festival is celebrated Lunar month of Tibetan Calendar, corresponding to mid-October to mid-November of the Gregorian calendar. This festival lasts for 19 days. It is indeed celebrated in Tengboche Monastery. By the way, it is an opportunity for local sherpa and tibetan communities to gather and celebrate together with monastic communities. Every year large number of tourists visit Tengboche and become witness to the Mani Rimdu Festival.

Tengboche Monastery is situated on the way of Everest Base Camp. So we have designed a fixed departure trip and i.e. Everest Mani Rimdu Festival Trek.

  2. CHHAM (masked dance) – 5th Nov 2017
  3. JHINSAK (fire offerings) – 6th Nov 2017
  4. LHOKPAR (destruction of the sand mandala) – 7th 2017

Outline Itinerary

  1. Day 01 (29th Oct, 2017): Arrival in Kathmandu airport and transfer in hotel
  2. Day 02 (30th Oct 2017): Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour and preparation for trek
  3. Day 03 (31st Oct 2017): Kathmandu to Lukla flight (2840m) and Trek to Phakding
  4. Day 04 (1st Nov 2017): Phakding to Namche Bazaar Trek (3440m)
  5. Day 05 (2nd Nov 2017): Acclimatization Day
  6. Day 06 (3rd Nov 2017): Namche Bazaar to Tengboche Trek
  7. Day 07 (4th Nov 2017): Mani Rimdu festival at Tengboche Monastery. Wang – blessing ceremony.
  8. Day 08 (5th Nov 2017): Second day at the festival. Witness the Cham – mask dance.
  9. Day 09 (6th Nov 2017): Third day at the festival. Witness the Jinsak – closing ceremony
  10. Day 10 (7th Nov 2017): Tengboche to Namche Bazaar 3440m (4/5 hours)
  11. Day 11 (8th Nov 2017): Namche to Lukla 2840m (6/7 hours)
  12. Day 12 (9th Nov 2017): Lukla to Kathmandu by flight (30 – 40 minutes)
  13. Day 13 (10th Nov 2017): Leisure day in Kathmandu
  14. Day 14 (11th Nov 2017): Final Departure
